Falling from a height may refer to injuries incurred from falling off of a roof, ladder, or stairway and are typically caused by faulty equipment, or improper training.
Slipping and Falling.
The second most common way to get hurt at work is to slip on a wet or slippery floor or to trip over something lying on the ground. Though similar to the previous point, the main difference is the elevation. While it might seem like it’s more dangerous to fall from a higher height, slipping and falling on the ground can be just as hazardous, as the employee may hit her or his head on the way down.
Repetitive motion injuries are the single most common way to get hurt at work. Such an injury can happen from doing physically strenuous labor, such as lifting, kneeling, bending, squatting, or twisting, but it can also happen when doing something as simple as working on a computer. These injuries don’t happen suddenly, but are generally caused overtime as the repeated activity causes small amounts of damage that eventually build up into a serious problem. For example, something as small as hunching over a desk can cause chronic back pain, and could even misalign a person’s spinal.
These are just a few of the most common kinds of work-related injuries and illnesses, but they’re not the only ways to get hurt at work.
